Welcome to the progress updates for Future Skies. Throughout the next few months, I will be posting the progress of my company upon completion of major projects as well as struggles that I will have along the way. Before I talk about where I am in my company, this post will explain the conception of my project and a lot of the ideation. My ideation started before the school year did. Spending time away from home, the summer brought much for inspiration of topics, but few real ideas. While working at a nature preservation camp, I knew that I wanted to work on something that would benefit the environment. I also knew that I wanted to work on improving the quality of life for people. This desire was created when I participated in community service projects within the islands of Fiji. Heading back to school I wasn't quite sure how to implement these ideas into one project because they seem so different. As I was brainstorming with my peers, I was thinking of places in the U.S. where the quality of life is fairly low. One of the big ones that came to mind were cities, especially regions with sub-par public transportation. Eventually, one question came to mind that birthed my entire project. “Do you think that the people who built the subway stations a hundred years ago thought that they would still be there, or did they think that it would be updated to accommodate for future technology?”
